Demand on Pet Food Pantry rising as festive season approaches

A charity that provides pet food for owners who have fallen on hard times is issuing an urgent appeal ahead of the Christmas holidays.

The Pet Food Pantry was set up in 2023 in response to the rising cost of living, and supports around 200 residents Island-wide at any one time.

With demand on its services already rising, the charity is asking people to consider including a donation on their festive shopping list.

Founder Helen MacAffer has been speaking to Manx Radio:

The items the charity uses a lot of include:

  • Whiskas wet food
  • All types of Felix wet food
  • Sheeba cat food (particularly fish flavours)
  • Tesco/pets at home wet food
  • All types of cat biscuits. Preferably the boxes or 2kg bags.
  • Winalot wet dog food
  • Pedigree chum food

You can find a link to the charity's Amazon wish list HERE.

There are also collection points at Laxey Commissioners Offices, Animal Ark in Onchan and the Trafalger in Ramsey.

For those in Douglas and the south, who would like to donate, it can be collected by Marie or Helen.
