Started by NAHT rep Rob Kelsall
Following overwhelming votes of no confidence in Education Minister Graham Cregeen and his department by teachers at a union meeting last week, a petition is calling on Chief Minister Howard Quayle to intervene.
It's been started by National Secretary of the Head Teachers Union Rob Kelsall.
It calls on members of Tynwald to recognise education is an investment in our children and young people, not a burden on Treasury.
There are two demands:-
It asks the chief minister to honour without conditions, the independent School Teacher Review Body's recommendations on pay for teachers 2018/19.
And commit to a fully funded pay settlement for future years for the teaching workforce which will retain and attract the very best professionals for schools on the Isle of Man
The petition appears to have been started overnight and 30 people have signed it.
