An expert on Victorian Piers will visit the Island later this month to give a public lecture.
It's called 'Piers of the Realm - and some beyond' and will be given by Professor Gavin Henderson.
He will explore the origins of the seaside pleasure pier as a marine landing stage, through to their development as centres of entertainment.
The lecture will take place at the Manx Museum on October 31 at 7.30pm.
