Hopes it would attract visitors and help local producers

Tea rooms and a farm shop could be created in Patrick if planning is given the go ahead.

Knockaloe Farm is applying to change the use of the farm office and former dairy building.

The application has been submitted by the tenant of the land which is owned by the Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture.

James Middleton says a footpath, which runs through the farm, is often used by walkers and the tea room could attract walkers and tourists.

He adds that farm shops have 'proved their worth' during the Covid-19 pandemic and it could be an outlet for local producers and their customers.

It's also hoped in future the farm can encourage educational visits for school pupils to learn about farming and the rural environment.

The proposals are now awaiting consideration.
