Manx National Heritage is hoping to develop a new Manx Ancestry Centre, to help residents and visitors trace their ancestors.
Members of Tynwald have been given a presentation on the £1.17 million project, which will go before them next week.
If approved, the new centre will see the archives available in digital format for the first time.

The scheme would involve the conversion of the former Government Analyst's laboratory in Kingswood Grove, Douglas.
