It's more fair than previous scheme says minister
A planned hike in prescription charges is 'much more fair' than a controversial scheme tabled last year, according to Health Minister David Ashford.
Although the cost is set to increase from £3.85 to £5 per item, the list of those exempt from paying - which his predecessor Kate Beecroft had planned to scrap - will not be changed.
Tynwald will vote on the scheme next week, the first rise in almost eight years.
Prescriptions in the Island will still be cheaper than in England, where contributions last month rose to £8.80 per item.
Mr Ashford says he's confident it will go ahead:
Sailings cancelled due to predicted gales
Have your say on the future of the Island's plantations
Warning for 'disorderly' parents attending schools
Yellow weather warning for gale force winds
New board members sought for abattoir
