Pupils from Jurby primary school were the first children in the Island to glide onto the Sure Skate ice rink today (Monday).
They won a schools competition to design an advert for the skating venue and part of the prize was to have a private lesson with Dancing on Ice star Kyran Bracken, who travelled to the Island for the official launch of the facility this evening.
The rink, housed in a huge marquee in the Villa Marina gardens, opens to the public for six weeks from tomorrow (Tuesday), and is big enough for 200 people to skate at the same time.
