17-year-old punched man in the head
A Douglas teenager has been put on probation after taking part in two unprovoked attacks on strangers enjoying nights out the capital.
Seventeen-year-old Jacob John Cooper, of Circular Road, appeared at Douglas Courthouse.
He admitted charges of assault and causing actual bodily harm.
The court heard a man and woman were verbally abused in Strand Street by a group of youths on 13 June.
Cooper was one of the gang who attacked the man, at around 1am, fleeing when police arrived.
On July 11 unemployed Cooper punched a man in the head near 1886, on Regent Street at 1am, leaving the man needing stitches for facial injuries.
The hearing was told the teen had alcohol problems but hoped to turn his life around and join the army.
Magistrates put him on probation for two years and ordered him to pay £100 towards prosecution costs and £100 compensation to the man he assaulted in July.
