Government seeks feedback on introducing new legislation
Feedback is being sought on plans to introduce laws to support homeless people in the Isle of Man.
The Isle of Man Government has opened a public consultation asking for views on similar legislation across, and how it would work on the Island.
Between June 2024 and July this year, Manx Care provided more than 9,100 bed nights in temporary accommodation, with an average of 32 clients per month.
The Cabinet Office says it's hard to determine the exact scale of homelessness on the Island, but this legislation would be an important first step towards placing legislation to address and support homelessness on the statute book.
The 10-week consultation is open until 25 February, with the new laws expected to be introduced into the Tynwald branches after next year's election.
