The Island's Attorney General embarked on a 'litany of deceit and falsification' a court has been told today (10 Dec).
The accusation came as the prosecution summed-up its case in the trial of 52 year-old Stephen Harding of Glen Vine.
Mr Harding denies charges of perjury and committing acts against public justice, relating to the winding-up of former Island company, Street Heritage.
The jury was told Mr Harding had been exposed by 'inconsistencies' in his accounts to police and to an independent disciplinary tribunal.
Senior prosecutor Peter Wright QC said by not giving evidence in court, Mr Harding had not been subject to scrutiny in the 'crucible' of the witness box and therefore had offered no explanation for his lies.
The defence is to present its closing statement this afternoon.
