Views wanted on new code of practice
People are being invited to have their say on a new guide which makes up part of the Capacity Act.
A consultation will run until 18 September to determine whether the code of practice gives people enough clarity and practical guidance.
The Capacity Act 2023 established a legal framework to safeguard the rights, dignity and wellbeing of individuals who may lack the ability to make decisions for themselves.
The code explains how the act should be applied in practice and is designed for families, carers, health and social care professionals and care providers.
Following the consultation the Department of Health and Social Care will publish a summary of responses.
Subject to the feedback a revised code of conduct is expected to return to Tynwald in November.
It’s hoped the Capacity Act will come into force in April 2027.
