Clean beaches a tribute to volunteers
Beach Buddies founder Bill Dale says volunteers have been doing such excellent work over the last few years, that the group is currently struggling to find a stretch of beach which requires a big clean up operation!
Four large groups of volunteers have been out over the week, including companies and children’s groups, and they shifted large amounts of rubbish from trouble spots at Pooill Vaaish, Fisher’s Hill and Castletown Bay.
Whilst admitting the situation is "amazing" Bill has paid tribute to all of the groups, and the many thousands who are out all the time keeping our Island beautiful.
Today, (Sun 19th) the Buddies will be going to the beach at Balleira in Kirk Michael for the first time in some years.
All are welcome to take part from 10.30am and whilst it may be quiet now, Bill says once autumnal storms hit the Island, tonnes of rubbish from all over the world can be washed up on Manx beaches, giving the group plenty of work in months to come.
