Sixty-four-year-old Tony Thompson takes on transatlantic ARC rally
A harbour keeper in Ramsey has been describing his 'voyage of a lifetime' after taking part in a transatlantic boat race.
Sixty-four-year-old Tony Thompson joined a crew of seven in tackling the 3,086-nautical-mile journey from Gran Canaria in the Canary Island to St Lucia in the Caribbean.
It was part of the world‑famous ARC rally, which sees hundreds of vessels make the transatlantic trip each year, and for Tony and married to Sheila - it was the fulfilment of a lifelong dream.
Mr Thompson says there were some 'interesting moments' along the way:

During the voyage the crew had to deal with ripped sails, a depleting fresh water supply - and the curious question of what to do if you catch a six-and-a-half-foot marlin.
