Hearing told 80-year old man may have drowned
It's likely a Ramsey man whose body was found on Ramsey harbour beach last week drowned.
The inquest into the death of 80 year-old Derek Walter Beavers was opened by Coroner of Inquests John Needham at Douglas courthouse this morning (Fri 18th)
The court heard how police saw a fully clothed man lying prone in the bay at 11.30am on November the 10th.
A police officer entered the water and the man was found to be unresponsive. His death was confirmed a short time later.
Originally from Portsmouth, Mr Beavers was a retired company director from Fairway Drive in Ramsey.
The coroner adjourned the hearing for inquires to continue.
Mr Needham passed on sincere condolences to the Beavers family.
