Civil servants in the Isle of Man concerned their jobs may be under threat, will be offered reassurances by a senior figure in their union this evening (Monday).
The president of Prospect, Catherine Donaldson, is in the Island for the AGM of the Government Officers Association branch.
The union here has around 1600 members, largely from the public sector.
Concerns are growing over job cuts, a continued pay freeze and pension rights, after news the Island's revenue is to be cut by almost 25 per cent because of the changes in the VAT 'common purse agreement with the UK.
Ms Donaldson says the issues are very serious but union members have the full suport of a highly organised union behind them.
The Prospect AGM is at the Masonic Hall and starts at 6.30pm.
