SPC colleciton passes milestone
A charity boss says he's overwhelmed by the generosity of TT fans who donated a record sum during this year's festival.
Almost £19,500 was collected for the Rob Vine Fund on board Steam Packet Company vessels during the 2017 festival - more than £3,000 above the previous highest total.
The fund provides first aid and life support equipment around the mountain course, and supplies the Air Med helicopter ambulances used during the TT, Manx Grand Prix and Southern 100.
It's named after the late Rob Vine, who died in an accident during the 1985 Senior TT.
This year's sum means the total donated on the ferries, since the Steam Packet held its first collection in the mid-1990s, has passed the £250,000 milestone - an achievement described by the director of the charity Dr David Stevens MBE, as 'astonishing'.
