Aerobatic display team slims down formation due to aging aircraft
The Red Arrows will be returning to the skies above Douglas Bay this TT albeit with fewer planes in the air.
The RAF's aerobatic display team has reduced its fleet of Hawk T1 jets from nine down to seven ahead of a transition to "a future aircraft type".
The slimmed-down formation will be used for the majority of this year's displays with the exception of HM The King’s Birthday Flypast and the Fourth of July 250 Commemorations in the USA.
In 2021 the UK Government extended the date by which the Red Arrows Hawk T1 aircraft will be retired to 2030, while most other T1s were phased out in 2022.
This year's TT display will take place on Thursday, 4 June at 7.30pm.
A long-standing TT tradition, organisers say the display promises to deliver 'another standout evening'.
