It's emerged a Manxman heading to the Himalayas was due to board the plane after the one which crashed in Nepal, killing seven British tourists.
Friends and family have spoken of their relief after hearing 65-year-old Les Shires is safe and well.
Les is on his way to join an expedition to Everest base camp and relatives made frantic calls to the Foreign Office after hearing an aircraft carrying climbers had come down near Kathmandu.
He was due to fly on the next service on the same route.
He was raising money for the Men in Sheds project in Port Erin, which offers social activities for retired men.
