Renewed calls for public referendum on Island's Assisted Dying Bill

Follows UK Government saying it was unable to recommend it for Royal Assent

The Isle of Man Medical Society is renewing calls for a public referendum on the proposed Assisted Dying legislation here.

It's after the UK's Ministry of Justice said it was currently unable to recommend the legislation for Royal Assent.

In a letter, the UK Government said it had concerns that the Bill may not comply with the European Convention on Human Rights.

Mover of the Bill, Ramsey MHK Alex Allinson, says work is already underway to make changes to the legislation.
