Committee puts forward 25 recommendations for change
A report into the Island's Budget process is calling for the public to be given more involvement.
A select committee that's been examining the legislature's role in the budget has made 25 recommendations for change.
They include a call for the details of government's spending plan to be published in advance of the debate in Tynwald.
The report found the financial plan has "drifted too far outside the scope of meaningful legislative oversight" and that by the time the Pink Book is debated "the substantive decisions have already been made".
It also suggests allowing backbenchers to put forward amendments to the Pink Book; currently members have to vote for or against the plan in its entirety.
