Commissioners face questions over finances at Monday's requisition meeting
The Roundhouse leisure centre will be a drag on the ratepayers of Braddan for the next 30 years.
That was one of the comments from an audience of around 150 local residents at a requisition meeting over Braddan Commissioners' finances last night.
The meeting was called following an outcry over the upcoming 37% rate rise, as well as the cost and access issues at The Roundhouse.
Members of the public voiced their concerns over how the project has been run, and the long-term impact:
Meanwhile, difficulties valuing the site are said to have impacted Braddan Commissioners' accounts for the year ahead.
Chair Andrew Jessopp told the audience last year's accounts can't be submitted until a valuation is carried out:
Middle MHK Jane Poole-Wilson attended the meeting, saying it's not possible to 'wave a magic wand' to resolve all the issues impacting The Roundhouse.
Mrs Poole-Wilson, who confirmed she's recused herself from the Council of Ministers in relation to the leisure centre, says government does want to find a solution to the finance and access issues at the facility.
But, she warns it won't be a quick fix:
