New initiative aims to reduce road collisions
'Share the space' - that's the message to motorists at the launch of a new initiative in the east of the Island today (Thu).
Garff Commissioners' SafeCycling scheme is calling on drivers to pay greater heed to those on two wheels, in an effort to reduce accidents and encourage more people to get active.
The parish is home to cycling stars Mark Cavendish and Peter Kennaugh, but also Kate Burge, who was killed after being knocked off her bike by a car in 2014.
Speaking at the launch at Dhoon School, Maughold this morning, Manx cycling ambassador Rob Holden said the burden is very much on car users:
