DoI announces 10p hike for young bus users
The price of a bus journey for Manx young people goes up by 33% from today.
The Department of Infrastructure made the announcement, the same day the change comes in.
School bus fares will cost 40p a trip, 10p more than yesterday.
The DoI says it's made the change to 'generate extra revenue and support operating costs'.
It adds that whilst this isn't 'welcome news', savings of £1 million 'must be delivered from within Isle of Man Transport operations over the next three years'.
It applies to those using Go School smart travel cards, meaning it will cost students going to and from school or college £4 a week.
The department says standard fares are not affected, and will continue to apply for anyone who doesn't pay for journeys in advance on a Go School card.
