Soaring vets bills are being blamed for a sharp rise in the number of pet owners in the UK reluctantly opting to have their animals euthanised because they're unable to pay for required medical treatment.
Rising costs are being linked to the acquisition of many independent practices by major international companies.
Some local veterinary surgeries have also been acquired by off-Island entities, but when cost is an issue for pet owners the ManxSPCA can often intervene, as Krish Boruch from the charity explains:
