An attempt to bring forward plans for an 18-hole crazy golf course at Noble's Park has been unsuccessful.
Douglas Council's Leisure Services Committee discussed the possibility of going ahead with the £150,000 scheme in the forthcoming financial year, two years earlier than intended.
But the proposal was heavily defeated, by four votes to one.
The crazy golf course is seen as a centrepiece of major plans to improve facilities at the park, and would include a water feature and landscaping.
Meanwhile, the committee has decided the old dog walking area should be the location for a planned fitness trail, with the equipment installed at different locations around the route.
Funding is also being sought for three new ramps at the skate park, but plans to install trampolines suffered a setback, when it was decided they could only be used in a supervised, controlled environment, and there was currently no supervision available.
