Orran finishes 57th out of 1,100 competitors
A Manx ultramarathon runner has raised more than £1,000 for an Island bereavement charity after competing in an extreme race in the Italian Alps.
He was competing in the Tour des Geants - which is 330km long and takes in more than 24 thousand metres of elevation - to raise money for Cruse Bereavement.
Athletes have 150 hours to finish and Orran ended up coming in 57th out of more than 1100 competitors.
"I feel strongly that more people can benefit from these crazy challenges and it’s not just me that gets to have all the fun!!! Every little helps and if I can raise even a small amount of money for a local charity then I think it’s worth it.
"I have chosen Cruse as my charity this time as bereavement and grief is sadly something that everyone will experience at some point in their life.
"I have seen the impact of loss and the support that cruse offers is something that many people can benefit from. Grief is such a complex emotion which requires targeted counseling and this is something Cruse can provide." - Orran Smith
