Firefighters are urging people to evacuate properties as soon as possible if there is a fire.
Crews attended reports of a blaze at a flat in Laxey last night (3 September).
They say the 'quick-thinking' resident had closed the kitchen door and left at the earliest opportunity and, as a result, was not injured.
The property suffered minimal smoke damage.
