More than three-quarters of all children referred to social services were as a result of police or community tipoffs.
Health and Social Care Minister Howard Quayle revealed the information in reply to a question for written answer during this week’s Tynwald sitting.
He told Speaker of the House of Keys Steve Rodan that out of 706 cases, more than 300 came from police, while another 244 came from the community.
Referrals from schools and Noble’s Hospital accounted for another 130 cases.
