The works to reconstruct the carriageway and pavement of Foxdale Road began at the end of October and were projected to finish in the next few weeks.
Cables not found in the initial survey have caused an additional four weeks work.
To prevent extra inconvenience, the road will re-open for the Christmas period with the works being finished in the New Year.
