Unions slam government communication
New measures to mitigate against the spread of Covid-19 in Island schools should have been discussed with staff before the start of the academic year.
That’s the opinion of two unions which have described government's approach as 'smacking in the face' of effective communication.
Education bosses say 'proportionate protective measures' are in place including increased ventilation and carbon dioxide monitors.
Mask wearing and lateral flow tests will also be encouraged.
However, Geraldine O'Neill – the local negotiating secretary for the NASUWT and Debbie Halsall - the regional officer for Unite the Union - say members need more clarity:
Education Minister Dr Alex Allinson responded to the claims live on Manx Radio's Breakfast programme:
Dr Alex Allinson is standing in Ramsey in the general election later this month.
The other candidates standing in the constituency are Robert Cowell, Liberal Vannin's Lawrie Hooper, Jonathan Kinrade, Simon Mann, Luke Parker, Leonard Singer, and Erica Spencer.
