Committee Chair Callister critical of capital
There have been no improvements in the standard of water quality in Douglas Bay, according to the Chair of a Tynwald Environment Committee.
Rob Callister made the comments after Minister of Environment, Food and Agriculture Geoffrey Boot gave evidence at today's (11 May) sitting in the Legislative Buildings.
Mr Boot cited his department's investment to combat sewage discharge and agricultural slurry, but the MHK for Onchan rebutted the Minister's claims, as bathing quality in Douglas bay remains sub standard.
Minister Boot says his department is 'working hard for a solution' with the Isle of Man Creameries as they continue to discharge whey into Douglas Harbour.
