The Isle of Man Steam Packet Company has confirmed that the new ferry terminal in Liverpool will see its first set of passengers tomorrow afternoon. (25 June)

Crews have been conducting berthing trials at the new £80 million facility since March, but the operator warns it 'will take time' for staff to become accustomed to the terminal and rectify any 'teething issues'.

The new landing point is 800 metres downriver from the currently used Pier Head facility.

Passengers on board Manannan's trip from Douglas to Liverpool at 3pm tomorrow will be the first to use the new terminal.

Infrastructure Minister Tim Crookall has welcomed the announcement, saying: "Bringing the new terminal and its associated infrastructure into full use has been hugely anticipated and will soon become part of our regular travelling experience.

"Having visited the site at various stages during its development, I know much of the heavy and complex work that’s been undertaken will go unseen, but that passengers will appreciate such comfortable surroundings within a modern facility."
