Treasury Minister Allan Bell has told the House of Keys that wherever possible, local firms will continue to get government contracts.
He was quizzed by MHKs on the issue, following a question from Onchan MHK Peter Karran about the tendering process.
Mr Bell was asked whether Manx companies should be preferred over United Kingdom rivals when the government needed work to be carried out.
He said there had been no change of policy and the answer was clear:
