Supporting other countries 'important for Island's reputation'

Charity director says Island would 'lose out' if it didn't provide help

The Isle of Man would be cutting itself off from opportunities if it didn't help developing nations grow their finance sectors.

That's from the executive director of the Small Countries Financial Management Programme.

The charity educates small jurisdictions on financial regulation.

Gary Roberts says the organisation's work is important for the Island's reputation particularly following negative press internationally over the summer.

He accepts there is a need to focus on what happens here but believes there are benefits to helping others:
