The Department of Health and Social Security in the Isle of Man says information on the safety of a vaccine which is being developed for swine flu will be scrutinised before it is recommended for the Island's population.
The statement follows the recent announcement that such a vaccine would be given to priority groups in the United Kingdom.
The DHSS says the approach to the disease in the Isle of Man remains early detection, treatment with antivirals and the following of general hygiene precautions.
Officials are repeating the advice that anybody with flu symptoms should keep away from GPs' surgeries or A and E.
Instead they should contact their doctors by telephone.
