A "scallop summit" is to be held between the Isle of Man and Scotland to thrash out current difficulties.
The Island’s scallop industry is soldiering on, despite the blocking by its larger neighbour of a bid to extend the curfew for scallop fishing.
Chief executive of the Manx Fish Producers Association Tom Bryan Brown says the situation highlights a need for the Isle of Man to have more control over its territorial waters.
On Mandate this morning, Agriculture Minister Phil Gawne said he hoped dialogue would lead to agreement on measures to help the industry.
He told Manx Radio:
"Officers are travelling up to Edinburgh today to discuss the matter and they will be pressing for a political meeting.
"The Scottish fisheries minister has agreed to hold a 'scallop summit' at some point with me, so we are making progress.
"It's unfortunate, I suppose, that because of the emergency situation and the very short notice we had that we weren't able, perhaps, to get an agreement on this occasion."
