
Approaches have been made to investors to assess interest in taking over the Mount Murray Hotel.
With the hotel due to close a week today (6 Feb) Chief Minister Allan Bell says securing new investment for the facility is key.
Mr Bell has spoken at length with hotel owner business tycoon Albert Gubay, following yesterday’s announcement the hotel is to close with the loss of more than 30 jobs, 14 months after a fire destroyed most of the complex.
Government officials are already trying to help staff affected find new jobs, as well as secure a new investment for the facility.
Mr Bell admits the announcement surprised and saddened him, but says talks are under way:
