
There's some good news about basking shark sightings at last.
It's been a very poor year for sightings so far. In most years, dozens of the gentle giants are seen around the Manx coast in the summer months, but 2012 has yielded comparatively few sightings
It's generally thought that the sharks HAVE been here but not seen because of the poor summer weather.
However,there were a group spotted in Peel Bay in the last few days and today Jackie Hall from Manx Basking Shark Watch has announced they have at last been able to continue their on-going satellite tracking programme with the successful tagging of three animals.
The peak season for spotting sharks usually ends around mid-August.
