MHK questions whether overspending has been monitored closely enough
The treasury minister insists the budgetary system is not failing, despite Manx Care forecasting millions of pounds in overspending, which an increase in income tax was intended to address.
In February 2024, Alex Allinson announced a two percent increase to the higher rate of income tax, with the additional revenue ringfenced for the health service.
However, Manx Care has outlined cuts to frontline services, which it believes are essential to stay within budget.
