Advice to not burns rubbish remains in place
An unattended bonfire which was in danger of speading to nearby vegetation had to be dealt with by the fire service in the north of the Island earlier today.
Crews from Ramsey managed to pump water from a nearby river to the scene to extinguish it.
Due to the density of the bonfire crews spent about an hour and a half putting the flames out and ensuring the surrounding area was dampened down too.
Even after the recent downpours the fire service says its advice remains the same: do not burn rubbish because there is still a serious risk of fires spreading, as the Island remains very dry.
