Owners say it needs £500,000 investment
An SOS appeal has been launched to save an historic coastal cruise ship, which this year brought a new generation of passengers to the Isle of Man.
After a costly refit, the volunteer-run MV Balmoral lost a number of summer sailings due to technical problems and bad weather.
It's led to a grim warning from her owners that unless up to half a million pounds is found, she may never sail again.
Balmoral embarked on a hectic schedule of pleasure cruises during the summer, calling at 50 ports and piers around the UK.
Her trips around the north Wales coast, Anglesey and the Isle of Man were among the most popular - and a special cruise from Whitehaven in Cumbria to Douglas was hailed a huge success.
But she's an expensive ship to maintain, and despite a rise in passenger numbers, sailings vital to generate funds were called off.
Up to half a million pounds is needed to cover repairs, winter maintenance and dry docking - essential if she's to operate next season.
Her owners MV Balmoral Fund Ltd are appealing to Islanders who want her back in Manx waters, to make a donation.
