More than 1,200 motorists speed through village
One motorist has been recorded travelling through St Marks village at 90mph.
Malew Commissioners recently installed a ‘Smiley Sid’ speed monitor, which showed more than 1,200 drivers passing through the village at least 20mph over the speed limit over a one-week period.
Others were in excess of 70 and 80mph, while one reached more than 90.
Chairman of the local authority, Nigel Bazley, says the commissioners knew speeding was a problem, but they hadn't realised how bad the situation was:
Sailings cancelled due to predicted gales

Warning for 'disorderly' parents attending schools
Yellow weather warning for gale force winds
