The MHK with political responsibility for ports hopes Virgin Atlantic's involvement in the purchase of Flybe will give the airline more resilience.
The operator, which has several routes in and out of Ronaldsway, listed itself for sale after issuing a profits warning last year.
A consortium including Virgin was announced as the new owners last week.
