A bill which would give the government new powers to prevent Isle of Man Energy from disconnecting vulnerable users is expected to be given to politicians tomorrow. (19 December)
Members of both the House of Keys and Legislative Council will be asked to approve the laws.
The supplier has labelled the move 'unnecessary', 'anti-competitive' and 'disappointing' and says the government has failed to collaborate to find an agreeable solution.

This could be seen to set a precedent and allow government to normalise passing new laws to get quick fixes to problems, but is that a dangerous path to take?
