20mph speed limit in place on busy route
Work to improve the surface of Richmond Hill will start today (26 July).
Colas (IOM) Ltd is undertaking remedial surface dressing on the New Castletown Road.
The work is due to be completed ahead of the Southern Agricultural Show this weekend.
A 20mph speed limit will be in place throughout.
The Department of Infrastructure says two-way uninterrupted traffic will be maintained 'for most of the time’.
Stop/go boards will be in use at the top of the hill, where it narrows to two lanes, but this will only be done outside of commuter times.
The DoI adds surface dressing is a ‘relatively quick’ method of extending the life of suitable roads before more substantial, expensive and time consuming approaches are needed.
