DoI insists there are no plans to pedestrianise it
Work to restore Ramsey's historic Swing Bridge to full working order is underway.
The Department of Infrastructure says a contractor has been appointed and the work is expected to take two to three weeks to complete.
The Swing Bridge was built in 1892 and is the only structure of its type on the Island.
It's been closed to vehicular traffic since January for safety reasons, but has remained open for cyclists and pedestrians.
As the bridge is a registered structure, the DoI has engaged with the planning department to ensure work undertaken is in line with permitted consents.
The Department stresses it has no plans to pedestrianise the bridge.
