2024 London Marathon gets underway in UK capital

Large contingent of Manx athletes expected to take on challenge

The iconic London Marathon is getting underway in the UK capital this morning.

Today marks the 44th running of the world-famous 26.2-mile course and the weather looks good for runners.

According to the Met Office, it is going to be cloudy with highs of 12 degrees. 

Along with attracting some of the best long-distance athletes in the world, the occasion also sees people from all walks of life get involved for different causes and goals.

The route takes in many of London's best landmarks including Buckingham Palace, The Cutty Sark, Tower Bridge and Canary Wharf - and a large contingent of Isle of Man athletes are expected to take part.

Among those from the Island taking up the challenge this year are Jonathan Pugh and Nikki Arthur:
