Athlete could go top in Europe
Isle of Man athlete Regan Corrin has broken another Manx record in athletics after competing at the Southport Waterloo Open.
The competition took place on Saturday (7 September) with Corrin finishing first in the high jump after he cleared an incredible 2.13 metres.
This result added five centimeters onto his previous best and also meant that the young athlete broke Martin Aram's IoM U20 record of 2.10 metres which was set in 2001.
Martin is regarded as the Isle of Man’s best-ever high jumper yet Regan has beaten the record in his first year in the U20 age group and is now just five centimetres short of Martin's overall IoM record.
Significantly the performance is still yet to be ratified by the European Athletics Association.
However if the result does get confirmed Corrin will move up to first in the European U18 rankings by two centimetres.
