Athletics: Island runners impress at London Marathon

First Isle of Man wheelchair finisher among those to complete race

Nearly 40 Isle of Man competitors went on to complete the impressive accolade of finishing the iconic London Marathon for 2026.

With no fewer than 38 Island representatives going on to complete the race on Sunday, 26 April, Paul Jennings put in the fastest time for Isle of Man participants of two hours, 51 minutes and 12 seconds.

He was one of four to manage a sub three-hour time along with Lewis Crowe (two hours, 51 minutes and 26 seconds), David Williams (two hours, 54 minutes and six seconds) and Mai Kakehi (two hours, 56 minutes and six seconds).

Elsewhere, history was made as Michael Ryan became the first Isle of Man wheelchair competitor to complete the marathon, crossing the line in six hours, three minutes and 42 seconds.
