Island runner finishes second in Liverpool with strong performance
One of the Island's top long-distance runners has smashed his previous best half-marathon performance whilst competing in Merseyside.
Taking part in the Aintree Half Marathon in Liverpool at the weekend (12 February), Nhlanhla Fortune Nzama put in a strong display to finish in second place in a time of 72 minutes and 57 seconds.
His time is a new personal best over half-marathon distance and nearly two minutes inside his previous personal record set during the 2021 Syd Quirk Half Marathon.
The result is also more than one minute inside the consideration standard for the Island Games, which take place this year in Guernsey from 8-14 July.
